Paradox?

I haven't done anything today but I've done a lot.

How to follow this blog

I was always under the impression that my blog didn't contain a follow button. Apparently, it already has one.

Look to the right, you'll see a faint rectangular box. Scroll your mouse over it. VOILA!

Just in case you didn't know. :)

learnt it the hard-way

After spending 2 hours on making a code that in the end, needed more work, I've come to a conclusion. I'll learn Python before attempting to do Project Euler questions. I mean, I've got the idea on how I'm going to use Python in solving the problem, I'm just facing trouble in converting those ideas into code. With my current knowledge about Python, I can only make inefficient, long pieces of code that take a lot of time for both writing and executing. I'm kind of tired of having my jaw open after seeing one liners to problems that I wrote 20-30 lines of code for!

Anyway, I'm going to complete the wikibook before going on any PE problems. I might glance at them from time to time but that's about it.

Didn't do Alcumus today either :/

Added a chemistry text-book to my reading list.

Tomorrow, I hope to get some school-math done, spend some time on Alcumus, get some Physics done(and chemistry as well), do another section on the Python wikibook. Well, that's about it.

Until next time,
Adarsh

Improving Productivity - Desktop Shortcuts

I was just thinking of new ways to improve my productivity when it struck me that I could create shortcuts from the desktop to the stuff that I want to do/usually do and remove all of them. I'm pretty pleased with the result. Lets see if it will help me in increasing my productivity.

Didn't do 'any' Alcumus today. Yep, that's right. Not even a single problem. Wasn't in the mood but instead, I solved 2 Project Euler puzzles and also started out on some Physics. I must admit, things are looking kinda rosy at the moment(I'll explain this some time later).

Until next time,
Adarsh!

Max Incorrect Streak: 3
AoPS Karma: -45

And also, I solved another problem on Project Euler. I used pen and paper though. I’m working on a programming way for it.

By the way, I was also working through my way on the Python for beginners on wikibooks(check yesterday’s post for the link). I must admit, it was fun!

By the way, I just watched Speedy Singhs

AND the most important news of them all,

INDIA decimated France 8 -1 in the final of the London qualifiers in hockey. We are going to London!! Yay!

Until next time,
Adarsh.

Solved my first prob on Project Euler!

Click to enlarge if you can't read what's written!

PS :  Just in case you're wondering what "clothespin" is doing in the google search bar. Umm, was doing Alcumus when a problem with the word 'clothespin' in it came. I didn't know what it meant, so, I googled it.

Yes, I’ll just be copy pasting it here.
However, every once in a while, I’ll be updating it with statistics other than these.

Anyway, if you’re interested in MIT check this link out –

Until next time,
Adarsh.

(PS : I have something coming up for tomorrow)

Project Euler!!

I almost forgot about this one. I first stumbled upon it while going through the MIT admissions website. But then, I forgot about it. Today, I once again stumbled upon it and now, it looks perfect!

I mean, why can’t I learn Python and solve problems on Project Euler at the same time. Whatever I’ve learnt in Python, I’ll try to use it to solve the problems in Project Euler. That’ll be interesting!

If you want to know more about Project Euler, here’s the link -> http://projecteuler.net/

Really looking forward to it!

Until next time,
Adarsh

Finally getting started

I’ve been scouring the internet for the perfect Python tutorial for me. There are hundreds out there that made my choice difficult and I’m still not sure if I chose the right one.

Anyway, I’ve chosen to go forward with this tutorial ->

I’m spoilt for choice actually. There’s like a full Atlantic-Ocean load of tutorials out there and choosing one is extremely hard. So, instead of wasting time by browsing over them, I’ll just go with the above tutorial and work my way through (slowly :P).

I plan to spend around 2-3 hours to learning Python for the next few weeks atleast. Starting from tomorrow because I’m already behind my studies for today. I Still need to read like 6 lessons in Science “thoroughly”.

Until next time,

Adarsh.

Onto something new

I’ve been doing Alcumus for the past 3-4 days but now, I feel the need to do something along with it. I mean, I’m able to study for my board exams and still have some time left.
So, I thought why not do something else in that time?

I knew what exactly I wanted to do.

No, not the snake. I meant the programming language. I’ve wanted to learn it from quite some time (ever since I stumbled upon intro to Comp Sci 6.01 in MIT OCW).

So, that’s something new that I’m planning on taking up in the next few days.

Anyway, as far as my progress in Alcumus goes, I did just 24 sums in the past 13 hours which took my total to 324. Also, I leveled up in Geometry(Level 4 now).

Anyway,

 Until next time,

Adarsh.
